Constant Automatic Disease Monitoring in Pigs

Non-invasive automatic monitoring to detect as soon as a disease outbreak occurs.

Work is well underway developing an automated monitoring system to identify as soon as a disease outbreak occurs.  Available from 2025, the new system can be installed into indoor pig houses to provide a system of daily monitoring of all pigs to detect as soon as respiratory or bacterial gut diseases occur.

The new system is a one box unit designed to hang from the ceiling, or be placed on a bracket within the pig pen where it automatically collects air from the pen, gathers VOC samples for analysis by the sensors to detect when a disease is present and automatically notifies the farmer as soon as an outbreak occurs; enabling fast appropriate interventions to treat the disease and improve the health of the pigs.
